The mobile label printing station proposed by SKK comprised an autonomous thermal transfer label printer, 2D code reader, portable power supply in the form of a suitable powerbank, special software developed for the customer’s needs and specialised adhesive labels.

The barcode on the label encodes such data as the product code, weight, and the manufacturing date. What is more, the label contains descriptions in different languages, which primarily include product information as required by the applicable law.

The new system releases items from the warehouse following the FIFO algorithm, i.e. beginning with the oldest. With the use of portable computers – terminals and SKK Smart applications, the following processes are carried out: acceptance of details and raw materials from purchase, their issuing to the co-operation, issuing the items to the injection moulding or to the pad printing departments, acceptance of semi-finished products from the injection moulding or the pad printing departments, issuing the semi-finished products for the assembly, acceptance of finished product into the warehouse and its issuing to the customer, and finished products stocktaking.

Without slowing down an entrepreneurial development for a moment, Eurocash decided to increase the efficiency in one of its most key logistics processes, which is the picking of goods. This goal was to be achieved with a new system using voice technology.

SKK Logistic Label GS1 software is a system of printing logistic labels not requiring the user to know the basics of GS1 system. Data exchange with the external system takes place automatically and supervises the assignment of SSCC numbers. The software has a three-year guarantee and technical support.

Thanks to the new solution, the picking process in the distribution centre in Lodz was optimised. Removing the burden from the personnel hands and eyes thanks to the voice communication with WMS increases work efficiency, as well as its ergonomics and safety. The voice system ensures reliable operations and contributes to increased profitability of the enterprise.

Individual goods in the showroom were marked with a barcode. To save space required to describe the product and to ensure convenient readout, 2D barcodes were used. Doing shopping with the customer, the consultant scans product codes and in the on-line mode (through the radio network) obtains information to their mobile terminal if the required amount of the product is available in the warehouse.

The new stock-taking solution in Mila chain is closely integrated with ERP SAP used by the company. Barcode numbers are synchronised with the fixed asset database in SAP. Every change in one system is recorded immediately in its twin version. Data import between the systems is carried out using a dedicated IT module.

According to the assumption, the radio network covered the reach of all warehouse buildings, including the building of high-storage warehouse and the outer area between the buildings, i.e. vehicular roads and external storage yard.

The modern, high-quality Cisco equipment (the switch and access points) operating in the wireless standard 802.11ac has very high efficiency and energy saving properties and is also dedicated to implementation in demanding conditions. It ensures high-level communication which enables correct and smooth operation of mobile devices.

There were applied dedicated access points in the cold stores, i.e. designed for operation in very demanding conditions, concerning, among others parameters such as temperature, humidity, tightness and durability. In turn, the access points operating in remaining part of the warehouse and in production part, were equipped with special casings.

The entire storage space was divided into warehouse localizations, which were then properly marked using the Nice Label application for label printing. At the same time the warehouse archive status of was labelled. Now it is known where exactly a given batch of constituents is located. At a later stage, devices and other applications for the management of warehouse and production operations were delivered.

The first of them is a modern manufacturing technology using the automatic identification system based on barcodes and on radio tags, operating in the UHF band. The combination of those two technologies in a single solution of manufacturing process control is a pioneering idea for the industrial plants of that type.
